I specialize in computer-mediated communication, sociolinguistics, and pragmatics of Human Interaction. The title of my Ph.D. dissertation is “Linguistic Politeness and Interpersonal Ties among Bengalis on the Social Network Site Orkut: The Bulge Theory Revisited.” My dissertation advisor is Professor Susan Herring, a leading researcher in the field of language-focused computer-mediated communication.
